Gender-Affirming Care
Hey.
If you’re here, you’re probably exhausted. Being trans has historically been vilified, and it has not gotten easier in the current climate. Adding navigating the often-stressful world of medical gatekeeping on top of that is a lot. Whether you’re looking for a letter of support for gender-affirming surgery or other transition-related healthcare, I’m here to make that process as smooth, affirming, and trauma-informed as possible. I provide letters for adults (18+) living in Idaho, Utah, and Rhode Island.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. If you need a letter to start HRT or take next steps for other gender-affirming care, you can schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation by calling or texting my receptionist at 435-774-4113.
No Hoops, Just Support
The medical system can sometimes feel like a series of tests you have to pass to prove who you are. When you come to my office, I will believe you. I follow recommendations based on the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) in providing medical letters rooted in informed consent and self-determination. You are the expert on your own life and body; my role is simply to provide the clinical documentation you need to access the care you deserve.
Usually, we can complete the requirements for a letter of support in 1–2 sessions. You do not have to be a pre-existing client of mine in order to complete the letter, and you do not have to continue working with me after it is complete. We’ll talk through the history of your gender journey and your goals for the future. If we’re already working together in long-term therapy, we can integrate this into our regular sessions. As an accommodation, I can send you the required questions for the letter before-hand so you can take the time to think and not be surprised in session. This isn’t required, but if you think it would be helpful for you, just ask.
A Trauma-Informed Lens
For many trans and non-binary folx, the process of seeking medical care can be re-traumatizing—especially if you hold marginalized identities. The medical trauma and gaslighting are real! Just like my work with neurodivergence and complex trauma, our sessions for letter-writing are a safe space. We can use our time to:
Discuss your goals and navigate logistics in order to meet insurance requirements.
Process anxiety or medical trauma in order to more confidently advocate for yourself.
Ensure you feel fully supported as you take the next step in your journey.
Intersectionality Matters
If your TikTok FYP has also been hitting you with autism or ADHD content (as it so often does for my trans and gender-diverse clients!), we can hold space for that, too. Many neurodivergent folx find that their understanding of their gender and their neurotype are deeply connected. We can explore how those parts of you intersect in a way that feels validating, not pathologizing. We can strategize about the pros and cons of including details about your neurotype in your letter. If you keep getting stuck around taking next steps towards your goals, take a look at my courses and group for neurodivergent self-sabotage! You are not the only one feeling that way.
